Welcome to Villa Marguerite
Villa Marguerite welcomes you in the centre of Périgueux. An early XXth century bourgeois house, it is ideally located, right near Gamenson Park and the Prefecture building.
The villa has been fully renovated to offer 3 comfortable suites, all sound-proofed. Each suite benefits from air conditioning and private bathrooms with separate toilets. They are each decorated in a unique way, reflecting our travels.
Whether you are returning from a walk, or just want to relax during the day, you can enjoy our two terraces as well as our landscaped garden, in the shade of a century-old linden tree. You can also take time to read a coffee table book, a novel or a comic in the guest living room.
In the morning we serve a breakfast of home-made, local products – either on the terrace or inside the dining room, at your convenience.
Our villa is less than 10 minutes’ away by foot from the historical city centre and the Saint Front cathedral. There you can wander in the Renaissance district and admire the cathedral – which served as a model for the famous Sacré-Coeur basilica of Montmartre in Paris. Further down to the riverside, you can walk or cycle on the banks of the Isle river and gaze at the city’s reflection in the water.
For the architecture and history lovers, you can visit the fantastic Vesunna Museum (designed by world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel) and discover the epic saga of the Pétrocores (Petrocorii), the Gaulish tribe who inhabited Périgueux during the Roman Empire.
Feeling hungry? Look for fresh and delicious local products at the famous Périgueux open-air market, or sit down for a meal at one of the many restaurants in the city, some of them Michelin-starred (we’ll be happy to share our best picks with you!).
In the evening, you can enjoy one of the many concerts, festivals and gourmet nights available throughout the year. Last but not least, on your way back, take a stroll under the foliage of the century-old cedar-trees of the Gamenson Park. There are a thousand things to discover in Périgueux!
The capital city of Périgord, Périgueux is a great starting point to discover this beautiful region. Less than an hour’s drive away are Brantôme, nicknamed “The Venice of the Green Périgord” ; Bergerac, Monbazillac and the vineyards of the Purple Périgord. Or you could of course visit the Black Périgord and its castles and extraordinary gardens, as well as Sarlat, Lascaux and the Vézère Valley – a UNESCO World Heritage site.
